Coty launches the first ever Refillable perfume Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense achieving Cradle to Cradle Certification
With the launch of Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense, Coty is delivering on its commitment to sustainable innovation.
The new fragrance, available now in different markets, combines three ambitious approaches:
- It is the first refillable fragrance in the Coty’s portfolio.
- The product presents reduced environmental impact, having undergone a complete life-cycle assessment by an independent organization
- The new Rose Naturelle Intense has received a C2C Certified Material Health CertificateTM at the Silver level1.
This approach represents an important step in Coty’s ambition towards becoming an industry leader in sustainability, using science and innovation to deliver transformative change.
The new Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense’s refillable bottles demonstrated reduced environmental impacts across Product Life Cycle Assessment indicators. It helps reduce up to2 65% in greenhouse gas emissions, 67% in water consumption, 66% in energy consumption3, and 75% in mineral resources consumption. The environmental footprint life cycle assessment of Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense was conducted by an independent organization, EVEA, to measure the impact of the bottle and its refill, from the choice of raw materials to the end of the product’s life. EVEA evaluated the environmental footprint of a 100 ml bottle combined with a 150 ml refill compared to five traditional 50 ml bottles.
Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense, formulated with a 100% natural origin fragrance, also received a C2C Certified Material Health CertificateTM at the Silver Level. The C2C certified Material Health Certificate is a verification of the health and safety of a product’s composition using the material health requirements of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product standard.
“Chloé stands for beautiful, meaningful products for society and the planet, and Chloé Rose Naturelle Intense perfectly embodies these values, said Constantin Sklavenitis, Chief Prestige Brands Officer at Coty. “Sustainability is our ultimate driver of innovation at Coty, and I am proud that this launch is another step forward in contributing to our corporate strategy of Beauty That Lasts.”
Product innovation is a crucial element of Coty’s journey to becoming a more circular business and helping to create a more sustainable and inclusive world – as set out in its Beauty That Lasts’ strategy.
The announcement builds on the success of Lancaster’s first clean, vegan and ocean-friendly collection, Sun Sensitive, which was the first ever sun care range to receive a Silver C2C Certified Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. CK EVERYONE became the only fragrance on the market to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold in all five critical areas of sustainability measured.
After reinventing fragrance sampling with the touch-less fragrance tester in 2021, which simultaneously reduced waste, enhanced safety and improved data collection; Coty announced a partnership with LanzaTech in 2022. The partnership has produced ethanol made from captured-carbon emissions for use in fragrance products. LanzaTech captures industrial emissions and processes the waste gases into a new, more sustainable source of ethanol that is of sufficient quality for use in fragrances, a game changing breakthrough for the industry.
