Facebook recently implemented new Facebook Reels personalization controls to allow users to tailor the videos they watch more closely to their interests and make Reels more discoverable. With this update, Reels were also added directly into Facebook Watch navigation, making short-form videos even easier for viewers. Users now seamlessly transition between Reels and longer videos when watching content from creators on Facebook.
Facebook Watch strives to give its users a tailored video experience by helping them discover content relevant to them. Through them at the top of Facebook Watch’s main navigation bar, users can quickly access short-form videos while discovering creators, trends and content relevant to them. Furthermore, users can now seamlessly transition between Reels and long-form videos while watching videos on Facebook.
Facebook is offering users new ways to personalize Reels. By tapping the three-dot menu at the bottom of video player and selecting Show More or Show Less, users can make Reels ranking smarter and more aligned to their preferences. By selecting Show More, reel ranking scores will temporarily increase while by choosing Show Less they decrease temporarily – this feature captures direct user feedback, making Reels rankings smarter and tailored more closely towards what users like best! By selecting Show Less instead, this action temporarily decreases them.
Contextual labels will soon be made available on Reels video player to provide more transparency for users, helping them better understand how content tailored specifically to them can be tailored for viewing pleasure.
Reels’ mission is to help users explore what they love now while also discovering interests, creators and communities they will enjoy later. Reels has grown increasingly social with over two billion re-shares per day being shared via Facebook apps – more than doubling since six months.
Facebook’s goal in giving its users more control over the Reels they see is to create an experience more tailored and engaging for its users. By adding personalization controls for Reels to Facebook Watch’s main navigation, and including Reels therein as short-form video content will become easier for viewers to discover and enjoy short form video content more efficiently and with transparency about how this content has been tailored towards individual interests. Facebook continues its efforts towards making it discoverable and personalized which allows people to explore their interests further while growing.
